Support research for Kawasaki disease
Donation for the EUROKIDS society are welcome.
Why is for research Kawasaki disease important?
Because it's a rare disease, affecting very young children (mainly infants), and we're lacking crucial information for:
-
Recognize the diagnosis quickly, because the essential clinical features are not always present and the signs can be misleading (suggesting another illness such as an infection).
-
Ensure that all children with Kawasaki disease receive effective treatment, to prevent them from developing cardiac complications such as coronary aneurysms.
-
To be able to identify the patients who are most resistant to treatment and therefore most at risk of developing its complications
-
To be able to understand the cause of the disease and to identify children the most at risk to develop Kawasaki disease.

-
To optimize therapeutic strategies for patients at elevated risk of developing coronary artery aneurysms
-
To tailor treatment of patients with coronary lesions during the chronic phase
Finally, not all children with Kawasaki disease are initially seen by someone who can recognize the disease, hence the importance of disseminating information to parents, health authorities and health professionals.
